Quick start

Get your marketplace up and running in just a few minutes. This guide walks you through creating your first site, setting up categories, and understanding what your users will see.


Prerequisites

Before you start, you'll need:

  • A Yclas Neo account with a team
  • An active subscription (see Billing & plans)
  • Access to the admin panel

If you don't have an account yet, register at your Yclas Neo admin domain (for example, app.yclas-neo.com in production or localhost in local development).


Create your first site

Step 1: Start a subscription

Before you can create marketplace sites, you need an active subscription. Go to Billing in the sidebar, choose a plan, and start your 30-day free trial. You'll need to enter a credit card, but you won't be charged until the trial ends.

No charge during trial

Your card is verified upfront via Stripe, but no payment is processed for 30 days. Cancel anytime before then and you pay nothing.

Step 2: Open the sites page

Log in to the admin panel. You'll land on the Sites page, which lists every site belonging to your team.

Step 3: Create a new site

Click the New site button and enter a name for your marketplace. This could be anything — "Acme Classifieds", "City Marketplace", or your brand name.

When you create a site, Yclas Neo automatically:

  • Generates a unique subdomain based on your site name (for example, acme.on-yclas.com)
  • Creates a dedicated database for your marketplace
  • Seeds 9 default categories so your marketplace is ready to use immediately

Step 4: Open your site

After creating your site, you'll land on its Home page — a getting-started guide. Click View marketplace to open your storefront: a fully functional classifieds site with a homepage showing recent listings, a search bar, and category navigation.

Your subdomain

In local development, your storefront will be at something like acme.localhost:8000. In production, it will be at acme.on-yclas.com (or whatever storefront domain is configured).


Customize your categories

Your site comes with 9 default categories. To customize them:

  1. Go to Sites in the admin panel
  2. Click on your site to open its Home page
  3. In the sidebar, under Build, click Categories
  4. From here you can rename, add, delete, and reorder categories

Understand your storefront

Your marketplace storefront has everything users need:

  • Homepage — Shows the 6 most recent active listings
  • Browse listings — A grid of all active listings with search and category filtering
  • Listing detail pages — Full listing info with photo carousel, seller info, and a messaging form
  • My Listings — Where users manage their own listings (requires login)
  • Messages — An inbox for buyer-seller conversations (requires login)

Users can register, log in, create listings with up to 8 photos, set prices, choose categories, and message other users — all without leaving your marketplace.
