Categories
Categories organize your marketplace's listings into groups. Every new site comes with 9 default categories, and you can fully customize them from the admin panel.
Default categories
When you create a new site, Yclas Neo automatically seeds these 9 categories:
- For Sale
- Vehicles
- Real Estate
- Jobs
- Services
- Electronics
- Home & Garden
- Sports & Leisure
- Other
Each category is assigned a sort order that controls how they appear on your storefront. You can change the order at any time.
Managing categories
Accessing category management
- Go to Sites in the admin panel
- Click on your site to open its Home page
- In the sidebar, under Build, click Categories
You can also reach categories from the Home page's "Complete the marketplace setup" step.
Creating a category
Click the Add category button and enter a name. The category will be added to the bottom of the list. A slug is automatically generated from the name — this is used in URLs on your storefront.
Editing a category
Click the ellipsis (…) button next to a category and select Edit to rename it. When you save, the slug is automatically updated to match the new name.
Deleting a category
Click the ellipsis (…) button next to a category and select Delete to remove it. You'll be asked to confirm before the category is deleted.
Deleting affects listings
When you delete a category, any listings assigned to it will lose their category. The listings themselves are not deleted, but they will appear without a category on your storefront.
Reordering categories
Drag a category by its grip handle (the icon on the left) to reorder it. The sort order determines how categories appear in the filter dropdown on your storefront.
How categories appear on your storefront
Categories are visible to your marketplace users in two places:
- Category filter — A dropdown on the listings page that lets users filter by category
- Listing badges — Each listing displays its category as a badge on listing cards and detail pages
When a user creates a listing, they can select a category from a dropdown populated with your active categories.
