Listing expiration

To keep your marketplace fresh and prevent stale listings, every listing automatically expires 30 days after it's created. Expired listings are hidden from search results and the browse page, but remain accessible via direct links and the owner's My Listings page.

How expiration works

When a listing is created

Each new listing gets an expiration date set to 30 days from the moment it's created. This date is stored on the listing and used to determine whether the listing is active or expired.

Active vs. expired

On the listing detail page

Expired listings still have a detail page that can be visited via direct link. However:

• A warning notice appears at the top, indicating the listing has expired
• The message form is hidden — users cannot contact the seller about an expired listing
• All listing information (photos, description, price, category) remains visible

My Listings page

On the My Listings page, users can see all their listings with status badges:

• Active — The listing is still live and visible on the marketplace
• Expired — The listing has passed its expiration date

Users can still edit or delete expired listings from this page. Editing an expired listing does not reactivate it.

Why expiration matters

Listing expiration benefits your marketplace in several ways:

• Keeps content fresh — Old, sold, or outdated listings are automatically hidden
• Improves search quality — Users only see relevant, current listings
• Reduces clutter — The marketplace stays clean without requiring manual cleanup
• Encourages re-posting — Sellers can re-post items if they haven't sold, keeping the listing at the top of recent results

Can I change the expiration period?

The 30-day expiration period is the default for all listings. This ensures consistency across your marketplace and keeps listings fresh.
